CGI doesn't work properly.

When CGI does not execute, the cause in the majority of cases is a settings mistake with the "permission" attribute.

This attribute allows you to set a restriction on who can write and read files and directories. If it is not set correctly, files necessary for guestbooks and access counters will not be able to be created or not be able to be written to, and may cause "500 Internal Server Error" to display.

Another common cause is that CGI was uploaded by FTP in binary mode, which can also cause "500 Internal Server Error" to be displayed. As CGI files use Unix line feed code, they must always be uploaded in text mode.
(When using the File Manger to upload files with the extension .cgi, they will automatically be uploaded in text mode)

If you do not understand, please ask the author of the relevant CGI. Our company does not analyse CGI programs in order to answer questions regarding why they are not working properly.

If you want to know in detail about how to make homepages and how to use FTP, please have a look at our INCOMING.JP service. With INCOMING.JP, we take responsibility, and guide beginners until their homepage has been opened perfectly.
